Access to development resources is free. All applications listed on the SDL OpenExchange website are required to go through a security and functional review process to ensure they do what they claim and are safe to use by the SDL user community. There is a €250 fee for security and functional review costs.
Listing an application on SDL OpenExchange is completely free until December 30, 2011 and developers can keep 100% of the revenues from sales resulting from listing on SDL OpenExchange (where the application is not free). After the December 30, 2011 there will be an annual €100 charge for listing your application on SDL OpenExchange and royalties to SDL will become payable. Applications which are sold through the SDL OpenExchange website will be liable to a 30% royalty fee of the revenue achieved to the developer, on a monthly basis.
For applications that are provided by their developers for free and which are approved for listing on SDL OpenExchange, SDL will waive all listing and royalty fees.
SDL is one of the most respected brands in the industry. Therefore, once you have an application ready for listing on the SDL OpenExchange site, it becomes subject to our quality assurance process, which includes functional and security testing. Once an application passes our review, it is digitally signed by SDL and becomes eligible for listing on our site. There is a nominal €250 fee for the security and functional review.
Once you have been successful in getting your application or plug-in approved by SDL, you can upload all the information you see fit to promote it on the SDL OpenExchange website. Each application gets its own dedicated page where you can upload all the related information you need to market your application successfully. Your application will then be listed on SDL OpenExchange for all SDL users to see, be directed to download and review.
Membership of the scheme with access to all the applicable resources and listing on the SDL OpenExchange site requires that you list your application on SDL OpenExchange in addition to listing it on any other websites of your choice.
All applications uploaded and submitted for publication on SDL OpenExchange first have to pass a security and functional review before being available on the website. At first we will scan all the files and perform a security check in a sandboxed environment. Then basic functional testing will be undertaken (does the application or plug-in really do what it claims?). After successfully passing security and functional testing, the application or plug-in will be digitally signed and can be published on our website. All 3rd Party developed applications or plug-ins will be available for download directly from the developer's website (SDL OpenExchange will publish a link to the appropriate resource for obtaining the application or plug-in). There is a nominal €250 fee to cover security and functional review costs. SDL will keep developers notified of all steps and actions in this process.
In case of any suspicious actions or calls by the application or plug-in, or a significant deviation from its declared functionality, we will notify the developer that it cannot be approved and that further action is required. The developer may choose to update the application or plug-in, or its associated documentation, and re-submit it to SDL OpenExchange. In the scenario that a more detailed security check is required, SDL will obtain a quotation from a third-party security company and pass the quotation to the developer for approval. All costs from the third-party security checking will need to be met by the developer.
