SDL Structured Content Technologies offers a full stuie of S1000D training courses consisting of lectures and interactive laboratories.

The training classes are module and designed to target specific user audiences, allowing for a training series to be customized to your particular requirements.  Courses are offered at the SDL Structured Content Technologies division headquarters in Wakefield, Massachusetts, as well as regional offices throughout the United States.  Courses may also be delivered at your location.


SDL S1000D Specification Overview

Who Should Attend:  Anyone who  needs to understand the S1000D specification, particularly those who are responsible for implementing S1000D in their organization.

Course Outline:  This course will provide a description of common terms used within the S1000D specification, including DMC, ICN, PMC, business rules and BREX, applicability, data module, publication module, DDN and DMRL.  You will also learn how to navigate through the S1000D specification, using Issue 4.0 mark-up during instruction.


SDL Contenta S1000D Overview

Who Should Attend:  Anyone who needs familiarity with Contenta S1000D 

Course Outline:  This course will provide a high-level overview of SDL Contenta S1000D including a big picture perspective of how to work with this powerful CSDB. This course is an introduction to all other SDL Contenta S1000D courses as it helps users to better understand their role in the implementation of SDL Contenta S1000D at their site. 


SDL Contenta S1000D User Training

Who Should Attend:  Authors, Editors, Reviewers 

Course Outline:  This course will provide hands-on training with SDL Contenta S1000D. You will learn about desktop tools, assignments, workpools, checking out and editing content, checkpoints/ versions, history, user notes, property sheets (metadata), and the search tool.


SDL Contenta S1000D Program Manager and Project Manager Training

Who Should Attend:  Anyone who will design, create, and populate project workflows with
responsibility for managing DMRLs, DMLs, and DDNs.

Course Outline:  This course will provide instruction on reading and interpreting DMCs, uploading data, creating DMCs and data modules, data module templates, and DDNs. You will gain an understanding of how to create and manage Contenta projects, workflows, and resource assignments.


SDL Contenta S1000D Publication Manager Training

Who Should Attend:  Publication Managers responsible for creating publications.

Course Outline:  This course will cover all aspects of publishing, including how to publish IETMs using SDL LiveContent, how to publish to PDF using SDL XPP, and the SDL Contenta S1000D publishing interface.


SDL Contenta S1000D Administration Training

Who Should Attend:  Contenta System Administrators and users responsible for adding new tools, roles, desktops, property sheet fields, and workpools.

Course Outline:  This course will include instruction for creating the S1000D database, uploading data, customizing the search tool, using the Contenta administration tool to modify property sheets and creating custom roles and toolboxes (permissions). You will learn how to create user desktops and provide user access, create workpools, workflow templates, and projects. Training will also be provided on the use of the Contenta System Administration Command Line Tools.
