SDL Trados Synergy delivers much more than just powerful, easy-to-use translation management. It offers a complete solution that empowers every member of the Translation Supply Chain to collaborate, ensuring that high quality translations are delivered more quickly and easily than ever before.

Automated File Preparation

SDL Trados Synergy takes project file creation and management to the next level. With SDL Trados Synergy, you can eliminate manual tasks such as setting up client projects, choosing the correct translation memories to use, and manually sorting through quoting matrices, saving considerable time and avoiding repetition at the start of a project.

A simple and user-friendly wizard takes users through the steps required to create a completely new project or one based on a customer template. Here you can specify parameters such as the project due date, the files to localize and the translation memories to be leveraged.


With the automated project creation wizard within SDL Trados Synergy you can:

  • Dramatically reduce the set-up time for multiple-language projects through project automation.
  • Prepare projects with multiple files and languages simultaneously.
  • Add all files from multiple folders, saving significant time preparing and organizing clients’ projects.
  • Apply multiple TMs to the prepared documents.
  • Reuse client profiles to store TMs, language, segmentation, analysis and reporting information.

Detailed Reporting

SDL Trados Synergy provides packaged, out-of-the box reports so you can easily make use of the wealth of information available and ascertain at a glance the leverage provided from your translation memories. (Fig 6) These reports provide instant project analysis insight.

The reports can be exported and stored in various formats such as HTML, XML and Microsoft® Excel®, allowing the data to be further processed in complementary applications.

For each target language in a project, there are different report types available, such as file analysis, pre-translation, SDL PerfectMatch and more. To view, print or export these reports, all that is required is a simple click.

Distribution of Projects for Translation

SDL Trados Synergy allows you to consolidate all relevant files into one package, which can then be sent to translators, editors, reviewers, or anyone else connected to the Translation Supply Chain. The package contains the files requiring translation as well as additional data, such as project translation memories. Both online and offline scenarios are fully supported to offer unrivalled flexibility.

Of course the translator receives only the part of the project that is relevant, such as the part of the files to translate into German. Once received the translator translates the files and creates a return package, which the project manager can then import to update the project with the target files.


Complete Project Visibility and Tracking

SDL Trados Synergy keeps key information within easy reach. Visibility into detailed project statistics on non-translated, translated and partially matched sentences helps managers keep their projects on track without over complication and confusion. SDL Trados Synergy provides a centralized location for managing the key aspects of projects, including current status and target completion dates.

The project tracking ability within SDL Trados Synergy is one of the most important features specifically designed to make the daily tasks of project management easier and more efficient. Any project created using SDL Trados Synergy can be published to a central server and accessed from the internet. This allows Project Managers live, real-time, detailed tracking of current projects.

Clicking on a project allows the user to drill down to show all the associated files in the project, by language and status. Clicking on a particular file will provide detailed statistics for that document, such as segment and word counts for each segment type (non-translated, fuzzy matched, 100% matched, Perfect Matched and translated).

Project Tracking in SDL Trados Synergy includes:

  • 360° visibility, allowing the SDL TRADOS translation supply chain to seamlessly work together around the world.
  • Project Manager access to up-to-the-minute information on customer projects, including key milestones, file status (Fig 4.), current owner, projects that are nearing completion and those that appear to be slipping. Your organization now has full visibility into customers’ projects from the SDL Trados Synergy user interface.
  • Project due date and accurate current status to ensure timelines are being followed. Project Milestones appear as events in your calendar on the homepage and as a Gantt chart to allow better forecasting and resourcing.
  • Customizable interface allowing you to structure the information you want to be able to see, giving immediate access to your project information. A graphical presentation of information makes SDL Trados Synergy even easier to use.

Translator’s environment and integration with SDL Trados 2007

The translator working with SDL Trados Synergy packages will require the use of the free SDL Trados Synergy Client and SDL Trados 2007. It is then possible to work in a familiar translating environment while benefiting from SDL MultiTerm and the considerable features available in Synergy, truly collaborating in a fully connected translation supply chain.

SDL Trados 2006 includes all major features required for your translation team to maximize productivity, performance, translation speed, quality, and cost savings.

SDL MultiTerm Desktop builds and maintains master glossary termbases that standardize brands, product names, part names, technical specifications, legal phrases, catalog descriptions, marketing messages, style guides, and more. Direct integration into Translator’s Workbench and all other editing environments, provides instant access to your glossaries for translator guidance.
