Extract

To ensure rapid deployment, SDL offers the two industry-approved term extraction methods for both mono- and bilingual documents:

  • Linguistic extraction method, based on language-based rules and dictionaries
  • Statistical extraction method, based on the frequency of term candidate appearance

Centralize

Terms are stored in a central repository on a server, which captures limitless terms and supporting data. Searching options include:

  • Simple search to locate specific terms
  • Wildcard search to locate all terms that contain a specific string of characters
  • Fuzzy search to locate terms that are similar or contain part of the search text
  • Multi-termbase search to locate a term that may exist in multiple terminology databases
  • Full-text search, to locate a term that may exist anywhere within the complete termbase

Publish

The terms held within the database can be shared over a number of media, ensuring read or write access for every author and translator, regardless of physical location or network connectivity, including:

  • A client/server application
  • Any standard web browser
  • A thick client for remote access
  • From within other business applications, via XML and SOAP. Out-of-the-box integrations include:
  • SDL MultiTerm seamlessly integrates with SDL Global Authoring Management System™ to verify terms during the point of creation in popular authoring tools such as Microsoft® Word, Adobe® FrameMaker®, XMetaL® and Arbortext Editor
  • SDL MultiTerm seamlessly integrates with SDL Trados 2007 to deliver real-time term verification during the translation process.
